Kaelo Foundation

Investing in education, economic inclusion, and environmental stewardship across the communities where Kaelo operates.

I

Foundation Mission

The Kaelo Foundation was established with a clear mandate: to direct a portion of the firm's resources toward long-term, measurable impact in the communities where we live and work. The Foundation operates with dedicated governance, a separate advisory board, and ring-fenced funding that is committed annually regardless of the firm's commercial performance. This structural independence ensures that philanthropic commitments are not treated as discretionary expenditure subject to business cycle fluctuations.

Our approach to social investment mirrors our approach to commercial advisory: we do not pursue breadth for its own sake. The Foundation focuses on three areas where we believe our institutional competencies — financial structuring, regulatory navigation, and cross-border coordination — can amplify the impact of deployed capital beyond what direct grant-making alone would achieve. These focus areas are education, economic inclusion, and environmental stewardship.

Every programme is designed with measurable outcomes, independent monitoring, and published impact reporting. We do not fund programmes that cannot articulate a theory of change, define success metrics, or submit to external evaluation. This rigour is not intended to impose corporate methodology on community organisations — it is intended to ensure that every dirham, dollar, and rupee entrusted to the Foundation produces demonstrable benefit for the individuals and communities it is meant to serve.

II

Focus Areas

The Foundation's three focus areas are chosen because they address the root causes of economic marginalisation in the markets where Kaelo operates, and because they align with institutional competencies that allow us to contribute expertise alongside capital.

Education

Access to quality education remains the single most powerful determinant of economic mobility in the Gulf, South Asia, and Africa. The Foundation funds scholarships, institutional capacity-building, and curriculum development initiatives that expand access to finance, technology, and professional education for students from underserved communities. We focus particularly on post-secondary and vocational education, where the return on investment in terms of employability and income trajectory is most demonstrable.

Economic Inclusion

Economic inclusion means creating the conditions — access to capital, business knowledge, regulatory understanding, and market connectivity — that allow small and medium enterprises to participate in formal economies. Our economic inclusion programmes target SME owners, women entrepreneurs, and youth-led businesses in markets where informality is the default, providing not only financial support but the advisory infrastructure — business planning, financial management, regulatory compliance — that enables sustained growth rather than one-time interventions.

Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship in the Foundation's context means direct conservation action in ecosystems that are under threat, combined with support for environmental policy development and sustainable enterprise models. Our primary environmental programme operates in the Seychelles, reflecting both our physical presence there and the acute vulnerability of small island developing states to climate change, marine degradation, and biodiversity loss. We fund conservation activities, support marine research, and work with local government on sustainable tourism and fisheries policy.

Programmes

Education

Kaelo Scholarship Fund

The Kaelo Scholarship Fund provides full and partial scholarships to students from underserved communities in the UAE, East Africa, and the Indian subcontinent who are pursuing degrees in finance, business administration, technology, and law. The Fund covers tuition, living expenses, and professional development costs including internship placement support. Scholars are paired with Kaelo professionals as mentors throughout their studies and are given priority consideration for internship and graduate employment opportunities within the firm. Since inception, the Fund has supported students across multiple cohorts, with a completion rate that significantly exceeds the sector average for scholarship programmes serving similar demographics.

Economic Inclusion

SME Accelerator Programme

The SME Accelerator is a twelve-month programme combining seed funding, business advisory, and market access support for small and medium enterprises in the Gulf and East Africa. Participants receive financial grants, structured mentorship from Kaelo professionals, access to the firm's professional network, and assistance with regulatory registration, financial management systems, and market development. The programme prioritises women-owned businesses, youth-led enterprises, and businesses operating in sectors aligned with national economic diversification strategies. Cohort sizes are deliberately small — no more than fifteen enterprises per cycle — to ensure meaningful engagement rather than superficial programme delivery.

Environmental Stewardship

Seychelles Conservation Initiative

The Seychelles Conservation Initiative is a long-term commitment to marine and terrestrial ecosystem preservation in the Seychelles archipelago. Working in partnership with the Seychelles National Parks Authority, marine research institutions, and local community organisations, the Initiative funds coral reef monitoring and restoration, mangrove preservation, sustainable fisheries research, and environmental education programmes for local schools. The Initiative also supports policy development work, providing technical assistance to the Seychelles government on sustainable tourism frameworks, blue economy strategy, and climate adaptation planning. Our approach recognises that conservation in small island developing states cannot be separated from economic development — the two must be designed together.

How to Partner

The Kaelo Foundation welcomes partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to measurable, sustainable impact. We partner with educational institutions, development finance organisations, NGOs, government agencies, and private sector entities that can contribute expertise, reach, or co-funding to amplify programme outcomes.

Partnership proposals should articulate the proposed programme, its alignment with one of our three focus areas, the target beneficiary population, measurable outcome indicators, a realistic budget, and the governance arrangements that will ensure accountability and transparency. We evaluate all proposals through a structured assessment process and provide decisions within sixty days of complete submission.

Individuals interested in supporting the Foundation's work — through financial contribution, volunteer expertise, or mentorship — are also welcome to make contact. All enquiries should be directed to foundation@kaeloglobal.com.
