In 2019 the contemporary form of the enterprise was established. The Dubai head office was opened; the Operating Council was constituted under the strategic direction of Mrs. Kavita Pohani; and the operating model that becomes the five-division structure was articulated. The decision to base the head office in Dubai was structural — documented at the time on an assessment of jurisdiction, regulatory clarity for privately held enterprises, talent pool depth, and time-zone fit with the wider operating footprint.
The five operating divisions that today carry the Kaelo name were not assembled overnight. Each took its current form over the years following 2019. What 2019 marks is the year that the contemporary form of the enterprise was given a single operating spine: a head office, an Operating Council, a writing-grade governance discipline, and the cross-divisional architecture that lets the businesses run as one enterprise without losing their separation where it matters.
The Operating Council has met weekly at the Dubai head office continuously since 2019. Almost every consequential decision taken by the enterprise in the years that followed — division formation, jurisdiction selection, brand launches, capital deployment thresholds, governance policies — has been written down in this office before being executed somewhere else. The Council’s working method, set in place from 2019, is the operating asset that the rest of the enterprise depends on.
Two operating decisions taken in this founding period have remained settled since: that the enterprise would not raise outside capital for its principal positions (Kaelo Investments deploys the group’s own balance sheet, then and now), and that the founder identities would remain private as policy. Both were considered at length; both have been continuously defended in writing; neither has needed to be revisited.
